The natural location of les Chapieux and the Vallée des Glaciers is a meeting point between the Beaufortain, the Mont Blanc Massif and the Tarentaise, a strategic position between France and Italy. Situated on the legendary « Tour du Mont Blanc », this is a route of long walks and gentle strolls and offers magnificent scenery including preserved alpine meadows and the vastness of the glaciers… A real ode to escapism! To preserve this protected site, vehicles are not permitted on the road between Les Chapieux and the Ville des Glaciers. Buses, for which there is a fare, run during the months of July and August. They connect Bourg Saint Maurice, Les Chapieux and the Ville des Glaciers. The times can be consulted in tourist offices and on our walking page.

On the heights of Arc 2000, this walk will take you to the lakes in the upper part of the area. With family or friends, you will follow an easy path along which the scenery changes at each new lake. Lac de l’Homme, lac des moutons, lac Marlou...
Along the way, you will come across our favourite mountain residents, the young (and chubby) marmots, who live in the Arc 2000 sector, and the cows in the Alpine meadows!
